Who knows that the 3rd President rumoured to have also Afro American Haplogroup T Mr Thomas Jefferson was against hostage taking and enslaving 4 Arabian states, which have also enslaved and hold for ransom Europeans.
I never heard of that even at university level on slavery later on. Say but only on Basel Missionairies are told to have been hold for ransom by the Ashanti in Ghana, which defeated also the British empire.

Funny enough the Basle Swiss town called Daig has been engaging in slave trade. The same family Burckhardt ,which then had one of them leading the League Of nations and deboarded from the German Panzerkreuzer in Gdanksk 1939. The Basel Mission was built as along the other religious movement as Quakers and Swedenbrog society to compensate also the Basel Daig upper class slave trade as I was taught at the Basle university itself.

Well anyway those Barbary wars called 2 war campaign during also Napoleonic times and turmoil in Europe are a good pick. And the implications also on domestic slavery in the USA are not to neglect.
